Research Interests
Research Statement
The work I do is focused on students with socially marginalized identities including race, sexuality, gender, dis/ability and income level and neurodivergence. I also work on programming for early career scholars with marginalized identities.
The higher education system is reckoning with questions of equity and access while still perpetuating systems that actively harm and dehumanize students, staff and faculty of color. I produce critical work that highlights places for radical transformation of higher education towards equity for all.

Project ELEVATE
Development of an institutional supports for early career racially minoritized faculty in Engineering
● Evaluated equity practices in place to serve minoritized faculty within three Engineering Education
departments.
● Organized and inventoried all necessary documents to ensure a streamlined and efficient process.
● Produced visually appealing and concise presentation materials to effectively communicate complex
analysis findings to stakeholders.
● Demonstrated expertise in distilling complex information into digestible and impactful slides.
UBelong Research Collaborative
Development of an ecological belonging intervention to support racially minoritized students in STEM.
● Observed focus groups and formulated thematic stories to create material for social-belonging intervention.
● Prepared manuscripts for publication
● Qualitative data analysis
● Conducted literature reviews and identified gaps to propose a new theoretical model to encompass Latine
international student experience in STEM.
● Conducted semi-structured interviews, cognitive interviews, and focus groups.

Bridge Programs
Intended to prep underserved students, and connect them with on campus resources, usually conducted in the summer before the first year of college.
Diverse by Design
Created with a diverse racial group in mind, rather than having an "ideal" student in mind
Focused on making the institution legible to students
Assumes that the instiution is flawed, not the students
The Building Blocks
of Womanism
Womanism as a movement is community oriented rather than individually oriented like more neoliberal feminist practice.
Womanism insists upon the use of vernacular, accessible language that is welcoming for all people, not just academics.
Womanism centers it’s practice in everyday life, not just huge demonstrations which are not accessible to all.
Womanism also centers spiritual growth, and the continual process of building an anti-oppressive movement through community building.
